Beef Stew with Thermomix

Soft beef stew on a cold day is the best!

Went grocery shopping with kiddos last week and had them decide on dishes they wish to try. Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into... orders ranging from Macroni and cheese, pizza, rosti, steak, and beef stew pop in... We had our first Japanese curry yesterday. It was a good attempt.

"Yum, Mommy can we have japanese curry again next week?" The best comment to receive after cooking...

Beef Stew with Thermomix

Ingredients

Include everything your reader needs to make this recipe perfectly, with measurements, optional additions, or alternatives. For example:

  • 500g beef cubes

  • 1 onion diced

  • 2 large potatoes

  • 2 carrots

  • 1 cup red wine 168g (I used 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon)2 cups beef broth

  • 1 garlic bulb

  • 1 1/2 tbsp Worchester sauce

  • Black pepper

  • Herbs - I used dried Italian Herbs

  • Salt

  • Plain flour or cornflour

Directions

  1. Season beef cubes with some salt and black pepper and brown via frying pan or via Thermomix. I would prefer using a pan via stovetop to better brown the beef cubes evenly. Add a little olive oil to the pan and heat it. Add beef cubes and lower heat and brown the beef cubes, turning with tongs to evenly brown all sides and set aside when done.

  2. Add a little oil and pour in diced onion to stir-fry until fragrant. Pour in the cup of red wine and saute the onions. Wait for a few seconds for the alcohol to evaporate. The aroma from the wine will smell really good. Add in 1 tbsp of plain flour to thicken the mixture.

  3. Pour wine mixture and onions into Thermomix and add in 2 cups of beef broth and bring to boil.

  4. 100 deg 10min speed 1

  5. Add in beef cubes, carrots, herbs, pepper, garlic, herbs, and Worchester sauce.

  6. 100 deg 60min reverse spoon

  7. Add in potatoes and continue to stew

  8. More flour can be added to thicken the stew if required. Beef stew would taste even better the next day.

Cooking has been made easy with the availability of videos from youtube, cookidoo (from thermomix community), and FB groups. I am happy that beef stew matches my family's taste. There is nothing more love and happiness to have people truly loving your food with smiles on their faces
